How do we grade our walks?
A sociable day walk in the Malvern Hills
From the main visitor car park at the north part of the range we will begin our first steep ascent of North Hill.
After reaching the summit of North Hill we will begin our walk along the eastern side of the hills with views of the historic spa town.
This walk will be an approx. 10 mile circular route, taking in some of Malvern’s main peaks including North Hill (398m), Herefordshire Beacon (338m) and the Worcestershire Beacon (425m).
Whilst the Malvern Hills don’t have the heights of Snowdonia or the mountains of the Lake District, a walk in Malvern can be quite strenuous. Mallory walked the Malvern’s in preparation for his Everest attempt and the hills are often referred to as a mountain range in miniature.
Upon reaching the Herefordshire Beacon we will head back along the western side of the range with views on a good day stretching out to the Brecon Beacons and Mid Wales.
The terrain will be a mixture of undulating well established trails, forests and steep ascents. So please come prepared with plenty of snacks, suitable walking boots and dressed for all weather!
