A Relaxed Approach to the National Three Peaks Challenge

The National Three Peaks challenge is known for testing walkers’ endurance, but this slower-paced version offers a more enjoyable experience, allowing you to tackle the highest peaks of Scotland, England, and Wales with time to appreciate the landscapes. Starting with Ben Nevis in the Scottish Highlands, you’ll have a full day to summit and descend before travelling to the Lake District to tackle Scafell Pike. Finally, the adventure concludes in Snowdonia National Park, ascending the iconic Snowdon. With expert guides, small group camaraderie, and all logistics sorted, this is a memorable way to achieve the challenge.

Suggested Itinerary

Here’s what we’ve got planned - of course, we may have to offer alternatives or make amendments if the weather misbehaves or other unexpected situations arise!

  • Your adventure begins with a pickup from Glasgow city centre or the airport at 1pm. From there, your host will transport you through the scenic Highlands, passing alongside Loch Lomond. After a brief stop to gather any necessary supplies, you’ll head to your accommodation. Dinner will be at a local restaurant, where you’ll meet your fellow walkers and discuss the plans for the challenge ahead.

  • After breakfast, it’s time to tackle Ben Nevis. Standing at 1,345m, the Pony Track route offers incredible views across the Highlands. The walk will take 6-9 hours to complete, giving you time to savour the summit before descending. After the climb, you’ll travel to the Lake District for the next leg of the adventure, stopping for dinner along the way before arriving at your accommodation late in the evening.

  • Today, you’ll be heading up Scafell Pike, England’s highest peak. The day begins with breakfast before meeting your guide at Seathwaite and ascending via the scenic Corridor Route. The 5-7 hour walk will give you plenty of time to appreciate the dramatic crags and panoramic views. Following the descent, you’ll be driven to North Wales, where another dinner stop will be arranged before reaching your accommodation for a well-deserved rest.

  • The final challenge awaits at Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales. Starting from Pen-y-Pass, you’ll take the Pyg Track, which provides spectacular views over the surrounding valleys. The route takes 4-6 hours, and on completion, you’ll celebrate at a local café before your host transports you to Chester train station for drop-off, marking the end of your Three Peaks journey.
