Saturday – Coastal & Countryside Walk
We started our day in Old Hunstanton, taking a bus to Brancaster before walking inland along the Peddars Way, an ancient Roman road. The route took us through traditional hedgerows, past birdlife-filled fields, and even gave us a glimpse of a hare darting across the landscape.
A well-earned coffee and cake stop at the Thornham Deli provided a perfect break before we continued our journey. The scenery transformed as we walked along the salt marshes, with vast skies overhead and a rich variety of wading birds and wildfowl. As we reached the sand dunes, the iconic Old Hunstanton Lighthouse came into view, marking the end of our walk.
Sunday – Royal Sandringham & Rare Wildlife Sightings
Our second walk began at the uniquely named Dersingham Bog, a rare lowland heathland on the Sandringham Royal Estate. Walking through a varied woodland of redwoods and oaks, we made a stop at the Sandringham Visitor Centre for coffee before continuing to the historic village of Wolferton.
A real highlight was spotting a rare white deer crossing the road in front of us—an unforgettable moment! We also visited the Wolferton Royal Station, once used by heads of state visiting Sandringham, before returning to King’s Lynn to say our goodbyes and look forward to our next adventure.
