Pen y Pass YHA
The highest hostel in Snowdonia, Pen y Pass YHA is at the top of the Llanberis Pass, right next to the start of two of the popular routes up Snowdon, the Pyg Track and the Miners Track. Recently refurbished, you can have breakfast in the clouds and then walk straight out of the door up the mountain. If Pen y Pass is full and you're looking for a hostel, YHA has several more, close by, at Llanberis, Bryn Gwynant, The Snowdon Ranger, and Betws y Coed.

Pen y Gwyryd Hotel
Close to Pen y Pass, this famous hotel has been the haunt of climbers ever since mountaineering in Snowdonia became popular. It was also the training base for the first successful Everest expedition in reaching the summit, and you can see this history in the Everest Room. There is a path connecting the hotel to the starting point for the Pyg and Miners Tracks plus it’s just a short hop down the road to the start of the Watkins Path, it also has a great pub.
The Royal Goat Hotel
Beddgelert lies south of Snowdon on the banks of the rivers Glaslyn and Colwyn, which meet in the town centre. The Royal Goat is the largest place to stay, a grand old hotel on the edge of town with a bar full of sofas to relax in the evening. The former owner is famous as the person who 'made up' the legend of Gelert the dog, a story that still draws hundreds to visit the grave on the village's outskirts. You can easily access the Watkins Path, Snowdon Ranger and Rhyd Ddu path from this hotel.
Ty'n y Coed Inn
This old coaching inn lies in the village of Capel Curig, east of Snowdon towards Betws y Coed, in the wooded valley beside the River Llugwy. It has one of the best bars in Snowdonia, with a great menu and plenty of ales. You can see one of the old stagecoaches that used to stop at the inn outside the entrance.

Gallt y Glyn
Without doubt our favourite place to eat out in Llanberis, locally known as Pizza and a Pint which pretty much says it all. Great stone baked pizza, real ales and if pizza is not your thing some great hearty alternatives. They also have some great budget rooms and a small bunkhouse.
